Blackhawk
Located in an unincorporated area east of Danville, bordered by Camino Tassajara, Blackhawk Road and backing up to Diablo State Park, the Blackhawk area enjoys a rich history, dating back to 1917, when it was first used as a summer home, and then later as a working ranch. San Francisco capitalist, Ansel Mills Easton, together with his son-in-law, William Q. Ward, established the ranch, which became known worldwide as a source of pure-bred Shorthorn cattle and prized Shire horses.
Named after a famous Irish racehorse once owned by Easton’s family, Blackhawk passed through several different owners until 1975, when Florida developer Ken Behring purchased the property. Behring’s plans to create a 4800 unit housing development on more than 4200 acres was criticized by local residents and environmentalists, who organized a protest against the developer. Behring changed his plans, reducing the homes to 2400 and selling more than 2000 acres of open space to Mt. Diablo State Park.
Hidden Oaks The first neighborhood constructed in Blackhawk was Hidden Oaks. Built in 1978 in a beautiful location with expansive views of rolling hills, Hidden Oaks offers well crafted homes ranging in size from 2,500 to 5,000 square feet. There are 206 single family homes in this luxury gated community, built on lots from 1/3 acre up to 1 acre in size. Most homes are one story with either 2 or 3 car garages.

Oakridge Homes in the gated planned community of Oakridge are smaller, ranging in size from 1,800 to 3,200 square feet on lots of 9,000 to 15,000 square feet. Located directly across from Blackhawk Country Club, Oakridge homes are no less beautiful than those in neighborhing communities.
Tennis Villas On the other side of Blackhawk Road, and adjacent to the Blackhawk Country Club, you will find a small community of upscale homes constructed from 1979 to 1981. Tennis Villas homes range in size from 1,900 to 3,000 square feet with 2 or 3 car garages. Constructed on 5,000 to 7,000 square lots, privacy and a feeling of community can be found in this lovely gated neighborhood, as all homes are located on one road; Tennis Club Drive. Homeowners enjoy amenities such as pool and a number of tennis courts.
Silveroak A development of upscale, townhome style condominiums located within a gated community, Silveroak homes are the perfect place to call home. It’s not hard to imagine that you’re living in another time as you walk past rows of beautiful homes while walking along tree lined streets.
Once you’ve made it home, stepped onto your open patio entrance, covered with beautiful stone tiles, and walked into your exquisitely crafted home, it’s time to relax and enjoy the large, open living spaces, complete with vaulted ceilings that lend a beautiful, airy quality to the home.
